    • I wonder why they are adverse to the thing that everyone actually calls it.
      • "Everyone"? Not people who pay attention. It was called X and X11 by most of my work community for many years, until "Microsoft Windows" became popular as a desktop, and then people started saying "X Windows". Ugh.

        So perhaps the dichtomy comes from whether you saw X or Microsoft first, or learned from someone who did, recursively. {grin}
