Growing gap

[ #22438 ]
Dear Log,

«Journalists say the [Chinese communist] propaganda department has also lengthened its list of forbidden topics, including stories about the growing gap between rich and poor and a number of big protests in the provinces.»

--"Writer held as China turns on intellectuals"

So the communist party doesn't want people to keep talking about the growing gap between rich and poor.

Karl Marx (!) once said that history repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.

But in that and many other ways, he never lived to learn from experience, or else he would have ammended that to: history repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce, and finally and eternally, as ceaseless Asian despotism.
