"Luck is being ready"

[ #1720 ]
Dear Log,

Eno once said "Avoid trying to make songs: create them when you're not looking".

Well, tonight, for no reason, I was poking around at writing a short MIDI::Simple program to generate some simple algorithmic music. I was fiddling with effects to simulate the sound of gamelans (like: pentatonic scale, several instruments hitting the same note but all slightly out of synch and slightly out of tune). I had no concrete goal in mind, but I was just sort of trying different things. And then I accidentally edited the wrong constant and ran it, and the damn strangest file resulted. It's art, baby!

It's amazing that it's even a valid MIDI file, but here it is:

The wonderful title "Muppet Gamelan" was bestowed on it by its first listener.
