  What's so horrible about esr attempting such a magnum opus? He's been talking about this for at least a good 3-4 years now.

  Do you disagree with what he's saying? I'm not sure the horror. Or is it just ESR in general?

    I'm afraid this book will end up being full of myths and other personal opinions. Here's a small example

    This is a ... horror. I've read through quite a bit of it and I agree with Sean. Maybe for different reasons.

    It's a mish-mash [infoplease.com] collection of opinions disguised as a history of Unix and a lesson on OS design (with tangents off into culture and other irrelevancies). It's bothersome to me because he's got the authoritative sound but no real basis in fact of a sales job. I'm a huge fan of Unix, but I get the feeling that I'm being preached at by Goebbles [us-israel.org]. While I may ostensibly agree with some of the fact
