Journal of TeeJay (2309)

this week I've been mostly eating...

[ #10264 ]
or rather eval'ing a small variable declaration and building 70 odd interface records, zone records, apache startup files, apache conf files and apache conf ssl files.

I also managed to replicate a working development environment on a fresh box using these files - not bad for the first few days in a new job, but could you imagine doing that with windows ?

I've never done bind malarky before, but today I managed to add about 80 zones to our DNS and nothing broke.

rndc is pretty pants compared to ndc, and bind 9.2.x uses journals to handle dynamic addresses, so you have to stop it before updating a zone containing static and dynamic addresses, then restart.
