New Grant Committee Secretary
I've been working with Alberto Simões to get him up to speed on running the grant committee. So far he's been asking some very sensible questions, not all of which I have good answers for. I think he's going to do a great job and I'm looking forward to seeing how things go.
In other news, I really wish that SQL could return proper data structures (it could, but people misunderstand 1NF, and no, PostgreSQL's lists don't count). It would have solved a very thorny coding issue I have and allowed me to push a lot of complex work into the database instead of my Perl.
I pour myself a cup of strong coffee. :-)
