Stuff with the Perl Foundation. A couple of patches in the Perl core. A few CPAN modules. That about sums it up.

Biting the bullet (or drinking the Kool-Aid)

[ #19201 ]

I've finally gotten fed up with my lack of knowledge of computer things outside of actual programming and have enrolled in a Linux system administration class. In order to fit it into my schedule (and save a ton of money) I've decided to take a distance learning class from the local college. I find it a bit ironic that they only support Windows and Macs. Anyone else see a problem with that scenario?

  • If you had Linux, you probably wouldn't need the class. :-)

    • Actually, I've been running Linux at home and work for over a year. This first term is going to cover things that I pretty much know, but I won't mind the refresher. It's a prerequisite for the next class, though. Networking, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and Samba are covered. Those are skills that I really need to learn and sitting at home on a single computer working on personal programming projects and writing doesn't really exercise those :)
