I suppose I should use this thing for something. And priceless DrForr style guide quotes, well, that's a good enough purpose for me.

if-elsif-elsif-elsif-elsif-elsif-elsif-... starts putting a strain on the optree at some point, usually a little while after it strains your ability to read ten pages' worth of if-elsif code. And some time before the maintenance programmer that has to figure out the conditionals beats you senseless.
because that's exactly how much difference there is. :-)
