Attached to: Calculating The Dow Jones Industrial Average
When AIG was tanking, they replaced it with Kraft. Now, if you took out GM and replaced it with Family Dollar (FDO), you'd get a 200 point jump in the average (right now, at least). If you also replace Citigroup with Google, jumps to 11400. With just a few good replacements, the economy would be doing much better!! Just keep replacing bad companies with ones which are doing well. It's much cheaper than the "stimulus"!

(yes, I know there is some way in choosing the companies... but most don't know what it is and just look at the average to gauge the economy)

ehdonhon writes "PPW 2008 is just a few months away. That means now is the time to submit a talk proposal. Haven't you been doing cool stuff with Perl? Of course you have! Then why not share the fun with the whole Perl community? Give a talk at PPW 2008!

Just go to pghpw.org and submit a talk proposal. It's that easy.

But don't delay. Get your proposal in soon — or else you might miss out.

Seize the day! Own the fun! Submit a talk proposal for PPW 2008 now!"

While the venue of YAPC::EU::2009 has not been announced yet, the future organizers will be using Twitter, Jaiku, and Pownce accounts, in order to help improve the communication with the attendees.

With the next venue being announced at this year's YAPC::EU in Copenhagen (on August 13th), maybe next year organizers will also make the announcement with these accounts in real time (for those not attending the conference).
