Thoughts on the shuffle

[ #24256 ]
So there I was, stuck in another country only armed with my iPod Shuffle, a handfull of CDs (mostly classical music), a laptop and tons of time to spare. My iPod can hold 512 megs worth of music (roughly about 8-9 hours). There is no way I could get to my music collection at home (basically because most of my CDs aren't imported to AAC yet). By the end of the week, I heard enough Chopin, Vivaldi and Maehler to last me a lifetime. Amélie's soundtrack used to cheer me up but nowadays I'd press the forward button gladly. Only a handfull of songs kept me going (among others: Barry White's The first, my last, my everything, the Freestylers' Push up, Tori Amos' Hoochie Woman and Moby's Jam for the ladies). I ended up buying some CDs just so I could have a different tune stuck in my head.

Yes, having one of those larger MP3 players might solve my problem but I might eventually just go for a plain FM radio again :) They're cheap, they're light, they're easy on the battery, you're listening to free music. But you'd have commercials, stupid DJs, you can't fast forward and you can't have playlists.
