trick or treat (redux)
Despite the fact that we all went over to a friend's house and carved pumpkins on Friday,
Despite the fact that people have been talking about Halloween all week,
Despite the fact that everyone in the house went off to some gathering at about sunset,
I was completely startled when the doorbell rang and I opened the door to find two strangers and a very short clown.
Fortunately, someone left a bag of candy in the living room, so I was able to pacify the clown.
