Mark Fowler has never been the same since he was elected leader of the London Perl Mongers. The strain manifests itself mainly in releasing various [cpan.org] modules [cpan.org] to CPAN, giving talks [2shortplanks.com], and use of the Trelane nick on #london.pm for endless procrastination. Doctors are still seeking a cure.

So davorg has been bugging us to do stuff again (that's why he's London PM's nominal leader after all.) This time it's book reviews.

I've already written one book review for the site about Programming the Perl DBI. Which was negative...infact much more negative than I wanted it to be. Hey, people, it's just my personal opinion! Don't take me so seriously.....Just 'cos I didn't like it doesn't mean you shouldn't! Anyway, to prove I had no bad feelings I ended up buying the first copy at the YAPC::Europe 2001 auction, and if I have to do that for every book I review I'll be broke soon!

So I got to thinking that I like Perl Books and I like O'Reilly - most of them are excellent and worth their weight in gold (okay, not that much, but probably work a year or two of experience.) So I decided to write a review for something I really liked.

Acting on this, I ended up writing a quick review for The Perl CD Bookshelf Version 2. Which rocks (the CD that is, not my review.) And thanks to Leo and his mad XML stuff it's already up on the site.
