Update : to celebrate this event, Richard Clamp released perl 1.0.16, which you will be able to fetch at ftp://ftp.cpan.org/pub/CPAN/authors/id/R/RC/RCLAMP/perl-1.0_16.tar.gz.

  Wow! Not only do such celebrities as Brad Pitt, Steven Spielberg and Christina Aguilera celebrate their birthdays on the same day as I do, now it's also Perl... And I have to admit, discovering that I share my birthday with my One True Love has definitvely made my day!! ;o)

  I won't totally trash it because perl-2.8.2 won't compile under cygwin. I'll just sit here and seethe about the sorry state of progress in the realm of software development in the world. Just tell Santa to watch his step.

  In some states, at least. In New Jersey, as a counterexample, Perl is now old enough to get a driver's permit, will be old enough to get a provisional license next year, and will be old enough to get a full license at eighteen.

  Now whether or not Perl is used in any automotive computer systems is another question...
