Esperanto Translation Mailing List Created
grinder writes "At this year's YAPC::Europe auction, the official language for London and Paris's web sites was won by a coalition of Esperanto backers. For a very large sum of money. I'm still miffed that Swedish_Chef missed out, but for those of you who want to help on the project or just tag along and watch, I've created a mailing list to help everyone get together and work through the issues involved (how do you say Monger in Esperanto?) So send a message ("subscribe esperanto" in the body, leave the subject blank) to majordomo@mongueurs.net and join the fun."

BTW: how one would say in esperanto "Parrot : all our languages are belong to us"? :)

The XML addicts are talking about ontology but have not produced anything convincing except another bird (OWL). And natural language material is out of their reach. Probably one could extract information using programs from perl docs if it was in esperanto.

Or lojban [lojban.org], which is grammatically unambiguous.
(It's not semantically ambiguous, because (a) that wouldn't be any fun, and (b) it's impossible. Oh, and (c), quantum physics or Gödel or mumble mumble.)

Actually, lojban would be great for the computer. Too bad it's a bitch for mere human brains.
Esperanto isn't too good for computer parsing, due to it's morphological ambiguity. Its flexibility makes it great for humans, though.
If you want to go simple and vague, try Toki Pona [tokipona.org]. Very small lexicon.

I think that Slash is one of the more configurable systems of its type.
