perl-5.6.1 Released

posted by pudge on 2001.04.09 7:57   Printer-friendly
Gurusamy Sarathy has released version 5.6.1 of perl. It is available on a CPAN mirror near you. Check out the full distribution or the patch. Also please read the announcement.

Note that in the announcement Sarathy says there will be a 5.6.2 release. Also stay tuned for the 5.7.1 release (development release for 5.8.0), which is on its way soon.

  • The mention of 5.6.2 in the announcement has no special significance other than the intent to do a 5.6.2 release. Eventually. Maybe in another couple of years or so. ;-)
  • You (normally) need intent before you can have action, so that's something! :-) OTOH, if Jarkko keeps moving along on 5.7 and there is no significant breakage from 5.6->5.8, there may be no reason for 5.6.2. Or maybe it would be like a 5.004_05 release, for people who really want it.
